Default Under Body Plastic....?

I just read the write up on the Hybrid oil change. The hybrids have a plastic panel that covers the entire bottom of the car. I am assuming this is for aerodynamics and increased MPG.....I wonder how much of a difference this would make on a regular car.....I am currently getting 37.4 MPG with a standard tranny 07 EX (I was in the 38's but it is over 110 here in SoCal)

Can't honestly say how much of a difference adding the Hybrid panels would make on your car. But I wouldn't think it would be worth the hassle. It may or may not make a significant difference but I would assume that the bulk of the Hybrid's excellent gas mileage is due to the fact that IT'S A HYBRID.

37mpg is very good. Leave your car alone.

Their panel is probably used for protecting the underbody from debris and salt. If you could put that on your EX, which I think that's what you are thinking, it's just gonna be extra weight. If you get 37, that's nice already. I have seen ppl wondering why they can't break into the 30s with r18.

I think something is wrong with your car. Do you drive in 4th gear on the highway or something? My Si gets great gas mileage and I definitely don't drive like a grandma. I just went to Clifton last night. It is about an 80 mile drive round-trip. The way down, my gas meter didn't even drop a notch from full, and I did three pulls vs my friend in his VR6 GTi, with four girls in my car. Other than the 3 or so total minutes I was doing the pulls, my A/C was on the whole time. When I got home, my gas meter had dropped a total of four notches. I don't know the exact mileage, but I guarantee you it is a lot better than 20 mpg.

On tanks that get less that or around 20 miles per gallon, it is all city driving... Los Angeles City driving, waiting, stopping every couple of blocks, shifting at 5k right where it bogs before vtec, seems to be a smooth shift point there.

I did do 240 miles on 10 gallons driving mostly freeway but there were big up hills through the grapevine on interstate 5N and on the way up the mountain on the way to Kern river. Went white water rafting up there.

EDIT: on second though I do need to change the oil/filter, probably time to clean the filter, no need since getting a SRI, check tire pressure and get an alignment.

I think some motors are just not as efficient as others. One of my friend got a 09 corolla, and he asked me why he can't get pass 25mpg when the advertised # is 35 even on full highway trips. I don't know what to tell him. I have seem other ppl complaining about their mpgs either r18 or k. But I do think if you are stuck in traffic the whole tank, very low mpg is expected.
