I'm looking for a new clutch but not sure if I'm supposed to match the clutch with the tranny or the motor?

If it's for the tranny, I have an Si cable tranny not sure from what year. Is there a difference in clutches between the 88-91 si trannys because I noticed 88-89 and 90-91 have different part numbers. How do I find out the year of my tranny? Also, are the civic and crx si trannys different?

88 hondas are different due to spline count, you can run a 89-91 clutch on your setup. I had a z6 in my old crx mated up to an crx si transmission and just used an SI clutch

 

yea if your not running a lot of hp stick with the oem clutch

 

im making about 215whp. im on a xtd stage 3 clutch right now and it barely lasted me less than 2 years. i dont know if oem spec clutches could handle that?

ps. are 88-91 civic and crx trannys the same?
