Default Rx7 FD manifold weld pics

Havent posted anything in a while so i figured id post some weld pics. Ive seen a bunch of peoples posts saying "how do these welds look" and have gotten some responses that werent accurate to say the least. Since ive been training in the aviation weld field my skills have continued to rise not just in visual appeal but just weld knowledge. I will post new pics when the manifold is completed. Im very happy w the results so far. 100% backpurged as always

Finished pics

Updated pics

Update #2 Penetration pics

First the outside shot

Update #3
You can obviously see some of the pipe is still not welded but it was 3am and i didnt feel like sticking around any longer to take more pics....you get the idea tho. Thx guys!

Btw, I love rx7 customers they are really dedicated to quality.....

absolutely beautiful. Are you producing this through the "drag welding" technique? It looks too narrow to be a pulsed weld. Good job!

no its not pulsed...i cant stand pulsing i think it throws me off and makes the weld less visually appealing but thats my opinion. For certain things its very helpful. A lot of the stuff we weld at the aviation company is sooo thin and you HAVE to pulse. Thx a lot!

Maybe FD customers, but FC guys and the rotary drift crew are some cheap *** dudes.

Is that single pass sch. 40?

What do you consider "PROPER" cleaning technique?

Thx guys...the camera i was using was a struggle to get "fair" quality pics on the outside let alone the inside. I didnt get 100% penetration but it was good enough for me. Ive never had a problem with runners even w/o backpurging but this is just insurance from now on. The tubing is sch 10.....as far as cleaning technique I dont do anything 'special' but......gotta keep some things to myself. Should have more pics by sunday. Thx guys

O come on guys we all know people dont tell all on this website. I really dont want to start this converstation....shouldve said anything lol. A lot of guys will just buff the pipe and weld it...big mistake. They're probably making the pipe even dirtier and not realizing it. Abrasives will imbed dirt particles in the stainless then roll into your weld as you move along. Im assuming most of you have welded many manifolds so you know when you encounter dirt in a puddle it throws your arc off and wont let you control the puddle as well.

I dont bash anyones stuff.......people ask for opinions and i give it to them. What kind of reaction did he expect when he says something like that?? I can take plenty of criticism but someone says "weld like everyone else...." sorry but i disagree

Not implying this reflecting on any experience directed towards me but i see you post a lot in people threads where your opinions come off very negative w/ very little helpful input to the poster. You say you give your opinion and the poster above gave his, fare is fare. This whole site has turned into a bunch of BS everyones a "professional" fabricator these days and apparently you need to post pics to prove yourself to be able to give an opinion.

There is no "secret" to buffing pipes, there is no "secret" to welding, some have the skill and some down thats all it comes down to.

More than less I agree.

The welds look good from the outside, but I wouldn't go about advertising the quality of them without being able to get clean, consistant and full penetration. Car guys will think those welds are special but honestly nobody in the pipe and tube industry is going to care unless you can make the inside look like this:
