Default cooling issues after new paint..lol weird

i drive my car home nice an easy and when i get to my street..POP top rad hose came off. fixed it..good to go. since then it had done it twice and when im slow driving or parked my autometer gauge creeps up passed 210. never had this problem before.

I think the reason for my hose is that the rad is broken where the hose goes. not a good grip. but for the temp to riase..no clue

also i can smell coolant but cant see it anywhere!!!!!

i put 2400cfm fan on it (pusher)
about a 70/30 water coolant mix
some water wetter
and i got a new rad cap..haven put it on yet

maybe sticky thermostat..im stumped

well check your thermostat, you can easily grab the bottom radiator hose and see if the thermostat is sticking. Also if you have a leak somewhere that will lower the pressure in your system thereby lowering the boiling point

i did the heater trick and yes it lowered my temp. I grabbed the lower hose and it seemed kinda stiff!!

is that a sign of a sticky thermostat?

as far as where the hose connects to the radiator, are you using a hose clamp, as opposed to the stock clamps?

simple fix bro...u can check the thermostat by taking it out and put water in a pot and getting it up to temp should be about 170-180 degrees lower the thermostat in with a wire or clothes hanger and see if it opens...but i bet thats not your problem u said u had cooling problems after fresh paint...i bet that when the car was painted they didnt tape up or cover the radiator and the paint clogged it and now air cant pass thru the radiator to cool the coolant...look at your radiator and see if its the same color as ur car..if so take it off and take it to the body shop and tell them to buy you a new one

x2. I was thinking that before even viewing the thread, just by the title. Check radiator for overspray/clogged fins.

After that...just normal maintenance stuff. Replace thermostat, check for leaks, and replace those pinch clamps with adjustable hose clamps.

Most important thing...BLEED YOUR COOLANT SYSTEM!!! A lot of people have cooling issues because they don't bleed their coolant system.

i dont think its paint on the red. I helped and prepped it. no paint got in there. but i guess i could spray it with some thinner.

see with me..my stock water sensor says im fine..but my Automemeter says im not. I have the autometer on the block where the upper rad hose goes!! closest to the turbo.

should the lower rad hose be be stiff when it reaches 180-190??

i would say if the car is warmed up and the bottom hose is cold/stiff then your thermostat isn't opening up. otherwise hot coolant would run through the bottom hose and warm it up and make it soft and easier to squeeze.

maybe try to bleed the coolant system first though just in case.

im pretty sure he meant lower rad hose to the block. I dont know of any bleed bolt where the upper rad hose is either.
