just wondering, if you had an oil light on, why would you keep running it and then rev it up to see when the light goes out.
I woulda shut her down after 20-30 seconds MAX. But, i try to take good care of stuff.

Im having this same problem. Mine happens when the car gets warmed up then the oil light comes on but only at idle. I just changed the oil pan gasket and there was no metal in the pan, strainer looked alright, no dents in the pan, and just got done changing the sending unit to no avail.
This is a 88 Sedan DX with a b18b swap with a b20 head. Car doesnt make any noises and has no symptoms cept the oil light. Im not willing to drive it till it gets fixed.

Did you see if there was an O-ring between the pickup tube and the oil pump? If you have worn Rod/Main bearings You will hardly get oil pressure. Hook up an oil pressure gauge and get a manual reading.

DING DING DING we have a winner. One of the pickup tube to oil pump bolts was loose and there was no gasket whatsoever in there.

Im waiting on the gasket to get here tomorrow morning then I'll put it back together and see what happens. I also got a pressure gauge so I can watch the pressure instead of relying on an idiot light.
