I'm new here...need some help...
Hello all, I'm Compton, soon to be Vegas lol. inside joke. I'm new here and I have a few questions that I'm hoping some of you will be able to help me with. first things first, does anyone know where the cheapest and easiest place to get a transmission for a '96 Accord? my trani slips in first and second gear, while it still keeps up with most cars on the street it isn't too quick off the line. second when i have my stereo up, and i dont have a system yet, if my headlights are off the stereo cuts out, but if i turn the headlights on it works just fine. and last the bigger fan that cools the engine doesn't turn on when it is supposed to. if im sitting in a drive through the car will start to over heat or if im sittin in the park hangin out it over heats but when i turn the car off and pull the key out the fan turns on right away. thanks for whoever helps me.
Well in my case (in regards to the tranny) I checked the local salvage yard for my 99
accord trans. They wanted around 900 dollars for a used trans. I found a company my dad worked for called ATK and with small discount I got a reman trans for 1100. so check them out , not shure about the wiring problem, possibly a ecm or very expensive mechanical diagnostic bill.

There stereo thing is weird. I would say there is some sketchy head unit wiring there. Is the stereo aftermarket? Did BestBuy install it? There is an illumination wire on the stereo wirring harness that is supposed to dim the stereo when the headlights are on. This is all I can really think of that would connect the headlights and the stereo
Check your fuses and relays under the hood and under drivers side dash for that fan issue, the name of the particular relay/fuse is not coming to me right now but I think thats your problem. If the fuses/relays are fine then test the fan motor by connecting it to 12v. Is your water temp gauge working? If not it may be a thermostat IF it ends up being the fan/motor itself I have a used one I can ship you for cheap.
The 94-97 accords had some automatic tranny issues. The auto in my 94 went. Your best bet for a used one is classifieds of forums (post wanted, search for sale) then check ebay (has plenty, beware of price and reputation of seller) and then check local junkyards(buyer beware, the car might be there for this very reason) They go from anywhere between $250 and $400 depending on mileage.
