I'll trade my 750 for a daytona 8 days a week!
get a tuneboy and a full system? should be easy to make 115-120 whp without dropping too much coin.
if you want moar torque, i think there's only one answer for you: liter twin.

My options are slim, though.
And I'm not sure I want to end up on a RC51

998/999? pricey for what they are, though.
my main gripe with the 750 is that it's hard to get it to turn like the daytona did. the steering seems slow. it's a bit of a struggle to get it to handle the technical bits that way i'd like it to.
i'm not done jiggering with settings though.

yea, but mine would be a street bike...so I'd be stuck with not much to jigger with

most of the jiggering is suspension settings and parts. a ohlins/elka/penske is a must if you're a normal size man, fork revalve is also a good idea. after that, you'd have to set the ride height and spin the dials to get it right, but a suspension guy could do that for you.
To this point i've done everything besides rework the forks. I also haven't experimented too much with ride height either. My next track day i'm going to raise the rear and see if that helps, and eventually try a 180/55 (vs. the 190/55 i've been on) and see if that makes the bike want to turn faster. All in all, mostly stuff you can do on a streetbike too.

If your looking for an ape... try and stay with the 03 model mille or the 04+ rsvr for that 110-120hp area.
the older 98-99 and the 00-02 milles are slightly less edgy and are a step behind those mentioned above

I was in the same boat, except I wanted an RC51 badly. I did get a superhawk but that was just to get used to the liter twin class. Very comfy bike and great torque/power but its not suitable for sporty rides out of the box at all. My next bike may be a 954rr though. Which i would consider middleweight +10hp.
I want something lightweight with a lot of torque but I cant afford a new Ducati
. However that custom SXV 5.5 on ebay inspired me to do a build....hmmm...
Its going to be hard to top the daytona's flickability, very aggressive front end geometry.
