Default What quiet muffler to use? Twin loop, magnaflow? must be 3" inlet/outlet

Are twin loops regarded as the quietest mufflers to get?

I've checked into magnaflows, and the satin stainless and polished stainless ones look good, however their XL Turbo series says its a 3 chamber design, it looks like it would be quiter; however the XL gets me worried, does it stand for extra loud or extra large? Anyways, I have a turbo gsr street car, mostly for strip. It will have a 3" electronic cutout for racing, but i want it quiet for the street. Need the quietest 3" I can get.

Thanks guys.

ive used this one, the 3" flat black oval muffler on a few cars and really like it. under normal driving conditions its pretty quiet, and thats with no cat or resonator, just 3" pipe to it. i had it on my 84mm turbo gsr, went from very loud(no muffler) to very quiet(with muffler), obviously driving normal. and i use it now on my 06 wrx with 3" tbe, and thats pretty quiet too.

I've used the Kteller exhaust kits and they've been very good quality and not loud at all! Great system for the street.

so kteller uses magnaflow mufflers and resonator? I think I'm just gunna go with a magnaflow 3" turbo muffler. with 2 180degree bends and all that, looks like it would be much quiter than any straight through designed muffler. Like I said, for racing I'm dumping the exhaust anyway, so i don't care about the HP loss from the muffler. I'm going aluminum because its light and quiet cuz copps don't like one piece fiberglass front ended caged rice burners. lol

I think my setup is pretty quiet.

- 3" downpipe
- 3" Magnaflow high-flow cat
- 3" KTeller exhaust
- 18" resonator
- 3" Magnaflow SS muffler (#14834)

Because a quiet muffler at idle and at moderate rpm in 3" is going to keep the copps off my ***, but still allow me to f*ck around on the street a bit. If I go 2.5", then i'm loosing horsepower in my setup. Its mostly going to be a drag strip car, but I still want a 3" quiet exhaust.

Lol, well I do like my hearing, so 4" open would probably be too loud for me. I had a stock b16 with a cat, resonator, and n1 style muffler and that [freak]er was too loud. It was much louder with the cat out though and just a test pipe in. Did a little 0-100 by a golf course and a cop heard me 1/2 mile away. Sure enough 5 minutes later he comes rolling past us in a parking lot asking where the jackass with the loud car went. Told him some red camaro just drove down the road past us...OOPS.

I use to have a magnaflow cannon poop shoot on my full 3" setup but changed over to one of these vibrant mufflers. They look amazing and quality of vibrant is great from everything I know or hear, though I have not heard it yet but should soon enough, the car is out of town for tuning.

The magnaflow was pretty loud honestly but I have always had awesome results in the past from magnaflow in other applications. I think it was the muffler style and design, you could not realy avoid it being a little loud.

This is a more stealth look though too which was a major concern, the polished stainless magnaflow was like a stripper in a church effect... not very subtle.

I'm running that setup myself, minus the resonator/cat though. It is definitely loud, I don't really care what anyone says, it's just stupid quiet to anyone who drove around with open DP for a few months.

+1 on the vibrant flat black, the inside is steel packed so i dont have to worry about it burning out like on the apexi unit...

But isn't the vibrant a straight through design, whereas the dynomax has two 180 degree bends, wouldn't that quiet it more?
