Ok, I have a 2002 Accord V6. Sedan. It's a late 2002, purchased new in Sep. 2002. The dealer tells me the VIN falls out of range of the EGR recall, which is understandable because it is one of the last 2002's built. The car is experiencing violent engine rocking while slowing from cruise. It's been so bad that I already had to replace 2 engine mounts. It only does it when the engine is fully warmed up. There has never been a CEL. I can assume that because the cars VIN falls out of range of the EGR recall that it was already fixed at the factory. My question is, could there be other issues other than the EGR port or could the EGR valve itself be the problem? Or could it be an entirely different issue, altogether? The car has 70K on it.

 

what rpm range does this happen at?

 

It happens when I'm slowing down. Let's say I've been at a 40, 50, 60, or 70 MPH cruise. When it's time to slow down, I'll let off the gas and coast until I need to brake. When I start slowly braking and the car slows to 20, 15, 10, 5 MPH (the tach is reading idle) The engine starts to rock violently back and forth. I mean, you can *really* feel it.
I don't want to have to replace the engine mounts again. I'm thinking it's the EGR valve but Honda tells me that if it were, there would be a CEL, which there isn't. Any other clues?

I didnt want to start a new topic so i figured i'd hijack this one...

so after the swap my egr valve totally threw a CEL and im not sure what to do, I wont shell out the money to replace it...can I just simply unplug it and have the CEL go away?
