Default starting problem

my crx occasionally has a hard time starting after sitting over night. it doesn't matter if it's the morning or afternoon. the starter will crank the motor over and over, and sometimes when i give it some throttle while cranking the motor, it helps it to fire up. the car drives fine once it's started, and doesn't have problems starting for the rest of the day. also, the first minute or so after i start driving, the motor would occasionally stall when i disengage the clutch to come to a stop. what are some of the possible culprits for this symptom?? distributor, plugs, and wires are relatively new, and fuel pressure seems to be fine, although i've only checked it while the motor is warm. also, i did a compression test recently and the compression is near perfect. btw, my car is a 91 HF. TIA.

Sounds like a main relay problem which is very common..

make sure when you turn to car to ON (but dont crank it) that the fuel pump is priming. it should only stay on a few secs then shut off. you should be able to hear it NO problem. if u cant hear it, it could be the main relay or a lazy pump

make sure your gas cap is good too. when you open the cap, it should go, "pssss" letting off pressure inside. if it doesnt, your cap is no good (or there is a leak somewhere) and all your pressure is bleeding out overnight. so when u go to start the car it has to struggle to get fuel (like described)

GL!

you seem pretty keen so if you are up to it, try opening your main relay and look for bad/cracked solders and fix em. the relay should work fine again!
