Default First real project. 1991 CRX

Well, on June 13th 2008, I picked up a fairly clean crx from another H-T member.

06/30/08After entirely too much time being spent in trying to find a d-series drivetrain to just get it running so I could start saving for my B series stuff, I decided to skip that step, (mainly cuz b swaps are readily available), and because I figured If i can skip the d-series step, then I'm saving money. So. As it stands, I'm supposed to be getting a Complete LS Swap today, from supertran. It isnt coming with a harness, or a vss, and something else, but I don't remember at the moment.

Anyways, Since this is my first b-series swap, I don't really know what I need. I know im going to need a harness, but I'm not sure if I use one from an EF or from the LS? And what else do I need to get it all running? I was told I'm going to need a cable to hydro conversion kit for the trans, which makes sense, and I am already working on getting the mounts, but what else? am i going to have to get a smaller radiator? Do i need any custom wiring? Will my ef shifter linkage work with the B series or do I need different ones? I have alot of questions, hopefully you all can help me out.

Once I get it up and running, then the REAL build begins. B-series VTEC, Turbo, ETC, but at the moment, I just wanna drive the [freak]ing thing. haha.

Then some basic Coilover kit, sway bars, strut tower braces, polyeurethane suspension bushings all around, cf hood, new wheels and a paint job.

I'll be updating as my project progresses. Let's hope I can see it through.

07/01/08: After what seemed like an eternity, Supertran25 showed up at my house with my engine. Nice guy. Finally got myself my LS swap. OBD1. I added some pics of it.

07/14/08 Order Details:

Code Item Qty Price Total
49150 88-91 Civic and CRX Conversion Mount Kit for B Series Engines with Hydraulic Transmission
[Urethane Stiffness:95A Extreme (Red)] 1 $359.99 $359.99

Sub Total: $359.99
Tax: $0.00
Shipping: $18.76
Grand Total: $378.75

hehehe..... thats one more part outta the way.

07/17/08 Well, after my bank being a [freak]ing retard and not allowing the purchase to go through until it was confirmed through me (via snail mail of all ways), my mounts are finally shipped today.

Hopefully, if all goes well, I'm getting axles sunday, and possibly a few other parts. Still havent decided if i want to go obd1 or stay obd0 yet. Either way it's gonna cost me a hundred bucks or so. Just not sure which is better to go.

07/21/08 Met up with Civicflow for my half shaft/ axles and t-bracket for 80 bucks. Nice guy. Thanks for doin business.

07/22/08 After bank issues, over draft charges, and all sorts of other bullshit i had to deal with, my mounts came in the mail today. So I got a little inspired to go start wrenchin. Until I came removing the rear trans mount from the cross member.. wtf man? I'll figure it out eventually. But damn, that **** aint cool. hah

07/24/08 After 2 long weeks of being super broke (cuz i spent my entire last check on those mounts) i get more money. So, i just ordered myself an engine harness from thevtecnician Should be in by sat. If all goes well. Monday the latest. Thanks man.

07/27/08 ahh, finally. A whole day off work. Got a few tools I needed to start wrenching on my car, so let the games begin. New pics added as I get progress.

07/31/08 Just ordered an alternator from pooorman's type-r for 65 bucks shipped. said he's gonna mail it out tomorrow. he's across the border in wisconsin, so i'm assuming I should get it super quick. Thats all for today folks.

08/01/08 12:58 am. Can't sleep. needed a starter. Ordered a starter. From civicflow good guy. got my axles from him, so i know his stuffs in good shape. hopefully should get that about the same time i get my alternator. w00t!

well, its 3 am, and I can't sleep. thinking about the car. lol. what better to do, then.. talk about the car...

here's some pics of what i picked up.

07/01/08 ENGINE PICS! GOT IT TODAY!

B18B1, OBD1. 1995 Integra. w00t.

07/22/08 Finally came in.

I think the pics speak for themselves.

Then I went outside, to start playing with my car. Decided to clean up the engine bay a little bit. You can't really tell in the pics but its a huge difference.

Driver side before
Pass side, before.

driver side after
Pass side, after.

I'm gonna clean it up a little bit more, but I ran outta degreaser

07/27/08 Got around to doing some work. Here's a few pics of the progress.

First off, boredom set in the other day, but I didn't have enough time to actually do anything major, so I did a little cosmetic work.

Not the best job in the world. I didn't prep it or anything, just wire brushed off the old flaky black stuff, and sprayed right over it. Looks textured so i don't mind it.

next we go to...

everyone has to have atleast one pic of themselves in the engine bay when doing a project. there's mine.

Front mount bracket. Only was able to get a sawzall. So thats how it's stays until i can find someone to lend me a grinder.

Then..

sawzall 1 - bitch *** motor mount 0

thats all for now.

I dunno, gotta find out how to do the mpfi first. My mounts finally shipped today, so who knows when I'll be getting them. Axles, i'm meeting up with someone on sunday to get that and the T-bracket for the trans. Still gotta track down a linkage, unless I can make mine work somehow. I heard its just a slight modification, but i'm not sure exactly what it is, I have both the D series linkage from the car, and the engine and trans I got has the linkage on there as well, so i guess I'll have to do some more research.

The 90-2000 integra linkage which you have can be used but its a little long. You have to cut a section out of it. I think its an inch? Don't quote me though. I got a halfshaft if you need one for cheap. You have to use one from a 90-93 teg or jdm civic/crx equipped with b series

I'm getting my axles and half shaft on sunday from a da, so i'm ok on that. But yea, i'll have to see how different it is when i bolt it all up. if thats all it is, just length, thats no problem, i have a welder. I can cut it down and weld it. but knowing my luck i'll make it too short or too long. haha

Lol. I had a linkage like that. Still have it actually. I fits b series into ef but its too long after being cut lol. I had to run it with no stabilizer bushing

some dude was tryin to sell me a shifter linkage, from AVID, for a buck and a quarter, but idk if its worth it. Like I said, I have my d series linkage and I have the b series linkage that came with the trans, im sure if i want, i can mod them/it, but if not, i might go ahead and to that, but i'd rather not, seeing as how i am on a tight budget.

You can't use the d series linkage. You might as well just cut the teggy linkage to free up some extra $$ for something else
