Default made a wheelie bar!

here's some pics of the wheelie bar i made for a friends 4 wheeler. ive never done a wheelie bar before, let alone for a 4 wheeler. it was pretty much all designed by me because there really isnt alot of pics of 4wheelers with wheelie bars around to look at how they did it. the top part is attatched to the frame and the lower part is attatched to the lower shock mounting point so it moves with the suspension. that was the hardest part getting everything just right.

it seemed to helped out alot with drag racing now. now he can keep it full throttle without feathering it and flipping the bike over haha..it still needs a few adjustments though.

these pics are different stages of testing the bar and making adjustments.

one wheeler! yea....more adjustments needed LOL!

same reason any wheelie bar on a car or whatever has one.. it was just laying so thought we would use it. the shock has been welded now because it was compressing all the way immediatly. we didnt think it was going to just push down on that shock all the way as soon as you launch it... because the 4 wheeler doesnt weigh ****.

i seen a 4 wheeler once with a leaf spring looking thing for a wheelie bar. wasnt home made.

I think they typically don't have them because of the rebound effect they have, forcing the vehicle back down rather than under it's own will.

rebound?? there is no spring.. just a shock ABSORBER. you ever push down on a shock before and see how slow it comes back up?

but yea it definetly comes down at its own will.

i've always wanted to try and setup a wheelie bar to where the top bar is mounted to the vehicle (any kind really) and the lower bar is hooked to rear suspension in a way that it cantilevers when the rear squats, the bars actually force down with their own movement.

After not riding for a while, I got on a newer 4 stroke and was amazed. When I started riding, 4strokes were balless sissypants motors. Wow have times ever changed.
