Default CRX track times

hey guys. Picked up an abused 91 si from one of my buddies for uber cheap and i've made it my new drag toy. Therefore the gsr is now retired and will be the comfy dd. Anywho..........

91 CRX si with no passenger seat or rear interior
JDM b16a with pw0
Top Speed Pro1 1 piece 4-2-1 race header 2.5 collector
custom built intake by myself
2.5 crush bend exhaust back to a crappy ractive muffler

Ran at my local 1/8th mile and pulled a 8.78 @ 78mph on 1.80 60ft on 225 bfg dr's. Stayed consitnent 8.8-8.9 @ 78mph on 1.9-2.0 60fts. Should break the 13's in the 1/4 when i go later in the year.

I got vid i'll post later but just wanted post my results. I'm quite impressed to say the least for an abused bolt on b16. Thanks for any input guys.

you should hit around a high 13 or very low 14 with that eighth mile time..

yeah given the mph and if the 60ft is still there it'll for sure do a 13.9 if not a 13.8. Of course it'll be a bit lighter before i make it to the 1/4 later this year so that should be easily accomplished. Just tryin to make up my mind if i want to just stay with the good ole reliable b16 bottom end or not.

hmmmm....with that setup you should be able to dip into the 8's for sure. You're problem is that its untuned. You have a nice build thats capable of 190whp for sure but its not gonna run anywhere near like it should unless you get a good tune on there. What was your 60ft btw? With matching your e.t. with the mph i'm guessing probably around a 2.2-2.3? Just to give you an idea i have a 94 gsr with sri, knock off ebay 4-2-1 header, custom 2.5" exhaust and ud pulley. My best is 9.26 @ 77.8mph on a 2.201 60ft on street tires. Your setup is way more then mine and you should be able to trap around 81-82 mph with a good tune. Keep at it man you got alot left.

wow it made 204whp. Either track elevation is way up or you must be spinning so badly that its dramatically effecting your traps. What exactly was your 60ft?

No offense but that is just god awful. I used to pull 1.8-1.9 60's on 17" parada spec 2's on a bone stock DC2 chassis that weighed 2600lbs without driver (so 2800 with me) and ran 13.5's@104-105 all day with a single nozzle 65 shot out of the hole.

You need someone who understands how to launch and setup a fwd car to help you out at the track.

Ya it was my first time draging like i said, the header isnt tuned so its throwing alot of things off its a big tube hytech replica but when the new set up is tuned i'll practice some more maybe a rev limiter and slicks will be in the mix next time i drag to bad i just got a reff ticket

Well here's the only thing that doesn't make since. Even with changing to the big tube header i don't believe it would hender your car that much. Like i was saying your traps are about 8mph from what they should be and i just don't see a header switch causing that much of a difference. Your 60fts are avg for street tires so you're not spinning so badly that its affecting your mph. Only thing i'm thinkin is either the track you ran at has hella high elevation or you're very much taking your time shifting. There's just no way you should run that slow pulling an avg street tire 60ft with that setup if you really made a bit over 200whp, despite the header swap. But yeah definately get a retune and see what comes out of it. Also with your 1st tune did some one reputable and trustworthy tune your car? Just wanting to make sure you didn't get screwed or just lied too.

it could for sure be the big tube... they seem to kill power on setups under 2.0

Funny!! Actually Shawn himself from church automitive in long beach c.a did the tuning, he was pleased with the final tune he tuned it twice the second time i returned with rc 310cc injectors and sk2 test pipe and hit 204hp-148tq. i think i need much practice on launching and power shifting, I also think having a little under a 1/4 tank gas racing that night had alot to do with my motors performance when im low on fuel i feal a big diffrence in power & acceleration! i think it has to do with not enough fuel pressure, i had to go all the way home couse my window would not go up and fix it, i forgot to get gas on the way back couse i was running late and rushed for some reason maybe i was so eager to race for the first time at a track! but it was fun and hopefully i'll have a real good et #'s with the new setup and tune withe some practice of course peace
