Default Should I get a USDM transmission?

Well I know the jdm trannys dont have the metal plate tags on them like the usdm ones do.. Im asking this because I live in socal and Im afraid I might get pulled over by cops. First thing they check is the tags on the tranny. Since the jdm ones doesnt have it they cant run the numbers or they think I took it off the tranny thus report it stolen. btw I have a jdm gsr.

I can't believe they actually hassle people over little things like this.

Why is it illegal to have a different transmission in a car?

well its not illegal to have a different transmission but it is illegal if you dont have the vin tags on the transmission.. they are very strict here. if you cant prove that the transmission isnt stolen they will impound ur car and crush your tranny. they did that to my friends ls/vtec.. it had a jdm ctr transmission.

As far as I know California is the only state where they check this.

Do they check all this stuff on every car, or only on imports that look modified?

I love living in washington state and in thurston county due to the fact that we dont even have to pass smog in this county. and in wa state we dont have any limitations on mods for your car. I am glad I dont live in california. they are ridiculous.

yes.. any import that looks modified even riced out ones.. they are bitches here.. the reason being is because stupid kids who have money who just pay others to make their motors fast.. then when they get a chance they smash whenever they can and end up loosing control.. killing people.. usually its the young kids who revs up to any vehicle that intimidates them.. even an suv and this is what we have to deal with now..
