Default Ti retainer Diameter? pic inside.

I was inspecting the head upon arrival from the porter and just noticed that these supertech retainers seem a tad smaller in diameter than my itr outer springs. These retainers i had installed are new replacing the skunk2 retainers. So Are Ti-retainers spring specific? like I should have used supertech dual valve springs as well? just wanted to hear your thoughts on this or if i should not even worry about it to begin with. Thanks in advance!

did you ask the shop if they measured the i.d of the spring and the o.d of the retainer? it does look like that spring will move around and wear the retainer, but you need to check with the assembler for measurments. in a perfect world he should'nt have assembled it if they were loose

The retainer is probably a snap fit design with the inner spring.

thanks for the advice . I might just end up taking it apart myself and doing the measurements. as far as moving i dont think it will ( but what do i know) but its the fact that the retainer doesnt sit over the spring completely and might just break(again I don't know either). I have the measurement of a stock retainer just want to get the diameter of my ti-retainer but would need to get a spring comp to measure it the right way.

thanks !

x2. Super Tech does use a snap-fit retainer, personally I would invest in a set of ST springs otherwise we might hear another horror story of TI retainers and everyone will bugg out

Thanks Clean Rice. Yeah might as well I know i shouldn't skimp out on dual springs since ive gone this far out to begin with. might as well purchase ST dual valve springs to complete the cyl head.

there just Skunk2 stg 1. But seriuosly thinking of upgrading to a better camshaft. Im coming from a B16 and this current build right now is a itr block with a second gen B16head that has a competition headwork/milled/welded chambers. My compression would be @ 11.6 . A recommendation a while back by b19coupe said that I'll benefit from skunk2 stg2s but i have to set money a side first if i do decide to purchase.

Todd is very knowledgable. Depending on headwork/intake/IM/header, M22x or Pro1 may also be a good option for you depending on what you're using the motor for and what you're tuning with. If you're OB0, then I might stick with the S2S2's.

Obviously as a RM dealer you would know more than me, but isn't the m24x closer to the pro 1 than the m22? Maybe I'm just confused, and I'm far too lazy to search for specs.

Nah the M22 and Pro1 are in direct competition, the M24xx is a good profile to rival the Pro2, M25E for the Pro3, and then we have even larger from there.
