Default Integra Type R "R"

With so many people modifyinging their ITRs, this got me thinking w/ an interesting question.

Lets say Honda put you (yes, YOU) in charge of re-releasing the DC2 as the ITR"R", how would you re-release it? Kind of the same concept as the new NSX-R. It's still similar to the old NSX-R, but at the same time very different.

Since Honda has stated that the car is for driving enthusiasts, the car can be geared more for the track, YET must still be streetable and costs must still remain reasonable for the buyer.

yshi - whose just curious

haha, too much green in your head ...

i'd add a CF hood, PS optional/AC optional, optional 4.785 FD, and leave the rear seats optional. asides that a lighter flywheel optional as well as more agressive cams as an option.

...basically 2 types of "ITR"s...the one as we know it, and maybe a version B, which would include some options and leave others out....all about the same price if you remove the ps/ac/rear seats

oh yes, one last mod.....the type-RX interior for the bling bling ricers out there

Full rollcage, two race shells, no rear seats, all interior panels, no P/S, no A/C, steel wheels, comes with SCCA membership; all at the same MSRP as the regular DC2 ITR.

All else the same.

Slogan?

ITR "R" - Time to seperate the men from the boys.

Delete: rear seats, clock, fake carbon fibre, power steering, radio, speakers, antenna, rear wiper, center console,

Add: heavier clutch, lighter flywheel, 4.929 final drive, light 16" wheels, Lowdown rate shocks and springs, with 26mm rear bar, lower 3/4".

Incremental cost would be almost zero.

First: Regulate who purchases it (Like the Ferrari F50)
Second: Ensure it is used in the fashion it was designed for (hard to do but can be done)
Third: Refuse ownership to those who do not follow the rules (n/a power generation, frequent track use, etc.)

Details:
(removed)
-power mirrors
-power door locks
-power windows
-power steering
-a/c
-radio
-rear seat
-rear upper suspension brace

engine:
keep the same internals
add "JDM 4into1 header"
better oil cooler (air to oil)
larger oil volume
baffled oil pan
single rib crank pulley
stiffer clutch
lighter flywheel

transmission:
add the 4.9X final drive

suspension:
20%-30% stiffer springs
more adjustments (camber/caster)

brakes:
ducting

wheels:
15" or 16"... not sure

color:
specific to the trim level... Red for the US?

Will

[engine updates]

Add 6 speed box, C/f hood and hatchs, cromoly rollover bar, c/f shell seats w/ 5 points.... the Brembo 4 pots with 12 in. rotors front, 10.5 rear, wider wheel tire combo....mugen sways front and rear, mugen strut bars front and rear, spoon lower front tie bar...Mc brace....and better aero package....some more spring rate would be nice as well........

Agressive cams, flywheel, clutch, quaife diff.....no powr anything, no rear seat.....optonal full stitched cage and radio delete

Too costly.

cromoly rollover bar

the Brembo 4 pots with 12 in. rotors front
No need to, there's nothing wrong with the current brake setup.

10.5 rear wider wheel tire combo
Huh?

mugen sways front and rear, mugen strut bars front and rear, spoon lower front tie bar...Mc brace....and better aero package....some more spring rate would be nice as well........
All these aftermarket parts would have to be added by the buyer later.

I for one never understood why honda decided to put a/c in it but not cruise control.

I daily drive my ITR but for a race only version, I would like to see the beast at around 2300 lbs, 215 hp, manual steering rack, N1 pulley, rear strut tower bar and adjustable suspension with your choice of spring rates.

Good question....

- Limited edition like before
- 50,000 mile warantee.
- Very light. 2,700lbs max.
- Factory rollcage
- True racing seats.
- Lightweight flywheel
- Probably Keep the AC and powersteering, and radio.
- A tad stiffer suspension.
- A full 1G of latteral acceleration stock
- 0-60 in under 6 seconds
- The biggest brakes that will fit in 16'' wheels.

- 50,000 mile warantee.
the very nature of the car will not allow that to happen.

i think even a better idea would be for honda to sell "tuner" cars with full warranty

i.e. saleen mustang, trd tacoma etc.

did somebody say mugen?

I would release it with
-Altezza's,
-Custom Coffee can exhaust Tips
-LED washer lights
-Hyper Whites all over ( HID's are just bootleg Hyper whites)
-Factory 18 inch Donuts with chrome hub caps
-More Type R stickers so they will know thats its a real type R
-More functional holes than any Andy's autosport Combat ninja Super mega bomb kit
-Single Winshield washer conversions
- I'd add another Emblem above the existing one
- Side Skirts that extend about 5 inches outward.
- a Triple deck spoiler to make the Saleen wing owners sick.
- 4 extra blue sidemarkers
- an massive type R banner that says Acura across the back and front windshield.
- Super bucket orange race bucket seats and remote control missile launchers on the front of the car.
Thats all i can think of for now.
