does anyone know where to find a carbon roof skin for an ek9?... just bought a hatch and the roof is a bit banged up, i dont want to put an oem skin on unless they do not make a carbon or aluminum skin

any help would be great, thanks

 

what do you mean by skin?? are you referring to the whole metal roof structure? if so, I dont think honda made any aluminum or carbon roofs. Aluminum roof is not very common on cars like civic, integra etc. The only car i've seen with aluminum roof from factory is lancer evo.

I guess you can cut your stock roof out and measure and shape out from a aluminum. But I duobt it will make your car significantly lighter/faster/better.

 

i honestly dont care that it would lighten the car a hole 4 lbs or something... but i have a carbon bonnet and liftgate and i think it would look great with a black car... the structural support and lightness would be a small plus i guess

 

aluminum will dent easier than steel wont it?

ahhh so you are wanting to change the roof for better look with cf hood and all.
Then why dont you just paint the roof black? many people do that and looks good. Cutting out frame and rewelding something else is a HUGE job. you are likely get it repainted anyway right? For CF roof, there is no way cf will be welded on steel chassis. Unless you coat the roof with cf material.

It is really waste of money to change the roof for visual purpose. Even if it is performance wise thoughts, I think it is waste of money on cars like civic.

 

a couple weeks ago i've seen a company selling carbon fiber roof caps, which you mold onto your factory roof

try searching on eBay for it again
