Default flywheel resurface: how many times can it be done

Is there a measurement to how thick the flywheel can be before it is unsafe to use?

I am not sure of a 'measurement', however in my experience most machine shops will be able to tell you if it can be resurfaced or not from looking at it. They do it so often, they have a pretty good feel. Honestly, sometimes if you are unsure, a decent flywheel is not that expensive anyway, and its going to cost anywhere from $30-50 anyway to resurface it.

The only spec honda gives for a flywheel is a runout limit.

If over .006" of clutch surface runout then it is out of spec for machining.

they have shims for up to .050" so anything after that i wouldnt recommend.

ive grinded a flywheel to .020 because it wore so much... installed it without shims and worked fine.
