Hey yall,

i own a 2001 accord ex, and its a four cyl. my check engine light recently turned on. apon it turning on i turned around and went home and parked it. a couple days later i started the car ( the light was still on) and i drove it a bit to see if i could notice a problem. to my surprise there where a few noticible problems

one . my tachometer was not functioning at all it was not marking the mileage, nor was it marking the speed of the car. the rpm's where still working.

Secondly, when i floored it. the engine sounded like it was hauling *** but the car was not moving any faster. it just slowly slowly picked up. it changed gears perfectly fine. just when i floored the car it would not pick up

any input would be EXTREMly appreciated and helpful

 

non functioning speedo: is going to be a wiring problem some where or possibly a sending unit or possbly bad gauge cluster.
Engine light: Take it down to autzone and have the OBD read. That will give you a good point to start on figuring out wats wrong with your motor.
Engine Problems: Whens the last time the car had a tune_up if your cant remeber or its been a few years, go get some new plugs, wires, check the cap and rotor. Bogging out like that sounds like a weak spot in your ignition.

id also liike to add that when iam at a standstill the car struggles to stay on. it runs at about 0450-0600 rpms and bubbles back and forth through that range it had never happened to me before

 

sounds like you need a tuneup

 

found out what the code was. it was the speed sensor code.

the guy at autozone said i could either

try and and clean the sensor and hope that solves the problem or

buy a new sensor

now he showd me the sensor itself on the computer screen but when he went to show it to me in the car he could not find it. anyone know where it would be?

 

arent those in your tranny? I could be wrong... if I am sum1 correct me.
