Default Speedometer not working. Help?

Ok heres the deal, car is a 98 Accord V6. Last night I went to send a friend home and the thing just didnt work.

I dont know what's exactly wrong with it. I unplugged the whole cluster today to check for loose clips but nothing. When I went to plug the clips back in, the first far left one made the needles jump and the speedo moved too. Im guessing it still works then?

I read my Chiltons and it said the auto's have two VSS sensors and if one was broke, there would be shifting problems. I have no shifting problems and it drives fine.

Can anyone tell me what's up?
