Default 97 hard start but runs fine?? Please Help

Hey I really need help here, I have a 97 sedan with the f22b2 and it has had a recent problem with hard starts???

The only things taht I have changed are removing the silevncer below the airbox, a K&N Panel filter and I washed the engine bay to clean it all up.

Now when It starts it sputters, and sometimes will not start right away. As soon as it settles into an idle it runs fine though, no problems???

I am thinking that I might have got water into the fast idle sensor or well quite honestly I really dont know, I have done new plugs, wires cap and rotor, and am going to do a fuel filter this week...looks like a PITA to do, but I really don't like it when it doesn't run right.

Any help I could get would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I experienced some early-morning hard starting as the battery slowly faded. I got a new one, and starts on the first crank, almost every time.

I have heard that a bad catalytic converter can cause hard starting and stalling (it disintegrates and plugs the exhaust). Tap the converter and see if it rattles.

Interesting?? I am going to do the fuel filter tonight, and see if that helps, and I will test the battery voltage too, although it does turn over fine..

I will also test the cat to make sure it isn't clogged I never even thought of that, being as the car has good power and what not.

Thanks for the suggestions though, any more ideas anyone.
