Just curious if anybody has ever used one on these before, I am sure someone has. I am just looking for some feedback and what i can expect if i get one. What difference at the track did you notice?

but you could probably expect that your always going to be about 800rpms higher than where your normally at, at any given time, and gas mileage is going to go down, but you should rev out quicker = hence the 9% increase in torque and acceleration, thats and increase in the power you already have, you just see it sooner. You will also top out sooner as well, ie - lower top speeds. not to mention your going to be shifting more often.

yah i am cool with a lower top speed. At some point in time i became mature enough to stop going 200km/hr+ on the city streets. Im fine with shifting higher and crappier milage as well. Not a big deal to me since i only drive in summer.
I am mainly curious at what kinds of gains i would see on the 1/4 mile. .5 of a second?

stephen from mfactory will tell you some cars got a second or two, but im thinking, if your an awesome driver .5 seconds tops..but probably .2-.3....
I haven't bought an FD yet, but when I do it will certainly be from MF. There was a group buy a while back for 5.2 FDs on the prelude forum I believe....

I have the 5.2 FD in my race car for about 1 year now and have had no problems with it at all. It makes a huge difference over the OEM FD for acceleration. One of the best mods for lower lap times, right up there with race tires. However, I have no idea how much time you will get in the 1/4 mile, my car is used for road racing and I have never had it at a drag strip before.

I'll be tracking my car at the track and the 1/4 mile. I can't see it being a problem at the 1/4 since i won't be trapping 140 miles lol it will be lower obviously.
im running the 4.6 in my a4...i love it! i cant say how much time it actually knocked off my 1/4 because i did a lot more upgrades at the same time. but i went from 13.8 to 13.04 on a bad pass.

not to bad. I am going to be having a ton of mods done all at the same time so i won't be able to tell how much it really helped. What additional mods did you have? just to give me an idea.

i know thats basic, but it gives you an idea. i went from 11.75:1 h22a4 to that.

the only thing i wish i did different was get the 5.2 FD instead. im at the top of 4th when i cross the traps.

I was actually talking to a few friends about the 5.2 yesterday (they have them in their b-swapped civics so i am not sure about the gearing) but one said he was using a 5.2 and was always having to shift into 3rd and almost instantly into second at the track in our city making it very difficult to track. He sold it off and got a 4.7 and said he makes it to the top of second for most turns and doesn't have to down shift because he is able to make the entry into the turns before he has to shift unlike the 5.2 fd. The track has some close, tight turns in our city
When i finish school i plan on building the entire engine. For now i have to relay on nitrous to keep me at the same power levels

I have run both options 4.64 and 5.15 from Mfactory as well as a Circuitworx 4.71.
Mfactory stuff is great... less whine than the Circuitworx.

No real difference in driveability... you just top out a lot sooner with the 5.1.

That has absolutely no bearing on an H22 trans. The gear ratios suck *** and a small FD like the 5.2 will really improve on a "laggy" trans...

yah see that was what we were also saying. neither of us really know first hand how it feels like on an h22 tranny. Thats the point of this thread, to get some idea before i place an order in the next 2 months.
Have you tried the 5.2? i am running a m2s4 right now, the stock 4th gen tranny. I believe thats the code anyway. The gear ratios are pretty decent on those ones, def could be better though

I have the 4.64 and love it as well. I also threw it in amongst several other things but it deffinately accelerates quicker. MFactory is good stuff

yah i am planning on tossing in some nice parts this winter. The plans for this winter include a complete tranny overhaul. New FD, which is why i want to figure out which one i should buy, a lightweight flywheel, clutch masters stage 3 clutch, gear speed carbon coated syncros, new seals etc, and a quaife lsd finally. Everything is looking good, just need to make up my mind.
