Default a/c question

just recharged my a/c it is working properly.. but for example when im driving and turn it on my car instantly once the compressor turns on the car holds back its a HUGE loss in power i mean its bad.. i know it is a load on the engine when its on because it is belt driven and all but this is bad like the car even feels like its missfiring while im at a red light and the a/c is on and even 1st gear has barely any power it just feels like its gonna turn off at low rpm's.. then when i turn the a/c off the power comes back and all is fine... was just asking because i had this same motor with a/c a few years back and it was even auto and i didnt feel this much loss in power and i keep it on the first or second stage/level on the climate control only difference is that this car is a sedan and the other was an ek hatch so im guessing the extra weight would make it seem a little slower who knows.. i cant really complain tho cuz i luv cold a/c and 30+ mpg
