I have a wrx TD04 turbo on my setup, My turbo has alot of play. I already have my manifold for that turbo. A buddy is going to be giving me a 1st gen dsm turbo which is also a TD04 in good shape. Can i swap the Wrx exhaust housing onto the 1st gen dsm turbo so that it matching my manifold? Anyone done this? Iv tried looking and thought i would ask honda-tech for some help.. thanks..

 

typically no. TD04 designates the cartridge and housing set, not the wheel sizes. There are many turbos with the TD04 designation, but doesn't mean that they simply can cross over.

 

IF its the same size it should work? iv never swapped out exhaust housings before, but my turbo went bad and the wrx flange i put on my manifold when i made it is the 3 bolt one..

 

Again, not necessarily. THe only way to be sure is to try it, in your case. I believe that the exhaust wheels are different, so there may be some fitment issues.

 

where could i find the wheel size for both turbos. 2003 wrx td04 13g wheel size and the 1st gen dsm automatic turbo wheel size?

hey i swapped the 1st gen dsm auto turbo into my wrx exhaust housing and it fit great! just thought i would let you know the outcome.. thanks alot .. and give me a few hours to drop the motor in and hook everything up and let you know how it runs its been 5 months since its been down so im getting excited..
