Default POOR SKYLINE

hi guys my ex-girl post this up on a diff forum and just a though to share to you guys

@ pick your part in Wilmington, CA. around 9AM
There were at least 10 Skylines that the U.S. Customs seized from the containers at the L.A. Harbor along with 22 RB26 swaps and 10 2JZ swaps.

Skylines were crushed today because U.S. Customs believed that they were "Illegaly Imported"

Here are few snap shots that I took today. Now im asking myself... why is it being crushed... like did the U.S. Custom found out that they were stolen? or what because i dont get the deal!

Anyways enjoy the sad views

I read about an article on them being illegally imported into the US. That's why they got crushed.

I would think that was being a little too harsh They should have just prosecuted, and auctioned the vehicles off or something.....

They are basically illegal to have on US soil, how would they auction them?

Not really sure, but it's the government..... they do what they want. I would have at least just sent them back to Japan.

Isn't the R33 the only Skyline legally to import if there were the right mods done to it.

There is one here in Illinois that i have seen several times. A couple at the drag strip and once just sitting in a parking lot. Said it was 100% legal as in no vin # swaping or anything. So i would assume it can be done.

is this for Skylines only or any car imported?

The list given here...

http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/...8.pdf

Are those the ones banned from here or allowed here?

What about imported RHD Integra's?

All of this could have been avoided, if Nissan would have been smart enough to bring the Skyline to the states to begin with. It took them 20+ yrs to pull their heads out their *****

They were more likely cheaper to crush than ship back to where ever they came from. If they were something "good" Customs prolly would have used them. US Customs is/was known for using what the seize. Like airplanes from drug runners.

There is a lot of reasons why that car did not get imported to America. One of the reason is probably the 300ZX.
