Depends on what you like and what you need. The del Sol will be much faster than your EK, and they are very fun to drive. The del Sol interior is fantastic, IMO. They're great cars.

BUT you're not going to have a back seat. The del Sol trunk is big for a two seater car (you can even fit a person in there) but of course it doesn't compare to the space in the hatch. Also 93/94 Sol's had bad roof seals--check for leaks, especially because you're in the Pacific Northwest.

Anyway, you said yourself that you want a del Sol, so I say go for it.

And if you decide against it...maybe think about getting a 95 EX? I've been wanting a Midori DX for a long time

it depends what you into....

Exterior
- ek and del sol both look nice if done right
-newer look on the ek

Interior
-ek sucks ***, does not have a "cockpit" race feel (lol @ shifter on the floor)
-del sol nice feel, like a mini s2k

Performance
-engine doesnt matter, you can swap any engine anywhere

-ek heavier than the del sol

cool factor
del sol has targa top )

i <3 my del sol, i wouldnt trade for an ek unless its like a 2000 si or something

I remember a friend came over and I told him I had a del Sol with a GSR swap. His reply was "wow I bet that was so fast! del Sols are sooooo light!" Actually, they aren't

del sols have 2 firewalls. by the look of them you would think they were light right. but my cousin owns one with s2k seats and it so pimp driving around with the top off and he back window down. feels sooo nice.

in the end its what you like and what you want the car for.

p.s del sols in the summer with the top down aint all that its cracked up to be. the sun just beaming down on you when you stopped or even driving sucks asssss.

also midori green eks arent easy to by.

my older brothers drive a 93 del sol and a 95 hatch, respectively. i cannot tell you how many time the 3 of us wanted go out, but only had the one car (oldest bro got his del sol before we got our cars). i also cant count the number of times 1)a sprinkler soaked the interior of the sol with top forgotten in trunk 2)times we got caught in a sun shower with top off 3)i felt cramped.

ek ftw

It all depends on what you're looking to do!

It will take you quite a bit of money to "mod" a del Sol correctly!!! ~> Trust me, the parts are very hard to find!!! Though my del Sol is 99.9% finished and I'm 100% happy w/ it, I could have built a hatch for 1/2 the amount of money!

I have a 4Runner for daily but the del Sol is REALLY fun to take for a quick spin around the block !!!

wtf are you talking about? i agree with everything except the del sol parts are hard to find. its the same chassis (similar enough) to an eg, all suspension parts are the same. exterior/cosmetic things are maybe a little more rare, if that's what you mean you should make it a little more clear, i haven't had a hard time at all finding parts. I can't really think of anything that I would want to do to my del sol's exterior except maybe a drop w/ some wheels. Unless you're buying some really gay ****, it shouldn't cost you twice as much to mod as a hatch.

all of those can be pretty easily avoided by just leaving the top on and maybe even blasting the AC, except for the last one, and you might want some midol for that. haha jk

x3 im a del sol owner and it even annoys me.

no offense to anyone, just voicing my opinion with some experience. but I would def pick the del sol, because it's kind of rare to find a clean (lowered w/ goodies) looking del sol.

It would actually be my third del sol, I want one for summer and before I have my kid in november.

The eg is completley stock dx, the del sol is an si with headers, exhaust, intake, fuel rail.

But I have a GSR in my garage thats going to go into it

I dont know what you mean by me needing alot more money to do that swap than in the ek, all i need is the vtec shift linkage, I got everthing else.

and IMO EG>EK

love me an eg

did you mean ek?

why were you asking which we would do if you've owned 2 already? it's your car, not ours. but i would def get the sol. im rebuilding sohc sol

Are you illiterate or can you not comprehend what "parts are very hard to find" means? Its pretty rare to get ahold of interior or exterior parts that are in good/ excellent condition! ~> On a side note: Yes I only use parts from Ebay.com!

i really like your del sol.

i thought you were talking about "normal" aftermarket performance stuff, like exhaust and suspension stuff. i didn't know you were talking about interior/exterior... and no... im not illiterate...

first off you can get lots more parts for teh EK exterior wise and "JDM" wise just a better variety to set your car apart from others.

well you know what ill jump straight to the point.

you can not trade the EXTREMELY rare color midori for a regular ole del sol.

in fact you could probably sell the midori EK and buy 2 del sols...no joke....
