Default Edelbrock two piece headers

Has anybody tried the Edelbrock 2 piece headers?

On their website they claim a 6 horsepower increase over stock using the factory exhaust.

Do the headers produce as much of an improvement as claimed?

How is the durability?

Good header, you missed the great closeout sale they had about a year ago, they natural finish header was going for like $140 on summit.

I've got these headers with the 2.5" collector mod. They work pretty well. I have a thread where you can see a comparison with a custom header. Also, I posted in the dyno thread at the top of the forum on pg 13.

Mines is mild steel, unpolished, it said natural finish when I ordered it. It turned dark brown after getting hot.

as far as the edelbrock 2 piece headers go:

natural finish= SS steel
polished = SS steel
Ceramic Coated = mild steel

it really depends on the manufacturing process, most SS is not magnetic although some are the whole magnet thig is not really vaild, just trust what i said earlier, i worked at a shop and sold/installed about 30 of those headers....

really? think twice before you mouth off next time you noob

taken from wiki:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stainless_steel

"Martensitic stainless steels are not as corrosion-resistant as the other two classes but are extremely strong and tough, as well as highly machineable, and can be hardened by heat treatment. Martensitic stainless steel contains chromium (12-14%), molybdenum (0.2-1%), nickel (0-<2%), and carbon (about 0.1-1%) (giving it more hardness but making the material a bit more brittle). [b]It is quenched and magnetic[b]. It is also known as series-00 steel. "

We are discussing headers made from 304 or 304L(L=low carbon ), just like almost every other SS header. Weather it's cold drawn or cold finished, seamless or welded 304 tubing its not magnetic! Period!

Yes I know the difference between Martensitic and Austenitic, I actually am an ME. But your post wasn't pointing to the Mechanical Properties of the material being questioned originally.

Please...
Manufacturing process has nothing to do with it. It's made to order. Grades of steel and SS are made of specifc content which renders them to a final series or grade scale. Heating and cooling can produce different hardness c-scale readings but it doesn't change the series of metal. 304 is 304 and 17-4 will always be 17-4 and all grades are produced in the same manner in every mill. In SS the difference is in the nickel content. Thats the only answer.

i am so not impressed or interested in anything you have to say, its a damn shame you didn't come with that humble attitude (sans the Please... part) in the beginning, i might have actually listened... have a nice day.
