Maintenance minder oil life
I recently switched to synthetic to get better MPG and extend the life between oil changes.
I noticed my oil life% is lasting significantly longer
Am I crazy? Does the computer evaluate oil breakdown?
I thought the oil life% was based on driving habits and miles and not on actual oil breakdown/life.

Switching to synthetic will actually burn more oil. And yes, it definitely depends on how you drive. If you drive consistently though and go to synthetic, it should burn more.
I think you misunderstood.
I wasn't talking about the oil level (quantity in engine). Although synthetic oil did burn up pretty quick in my old turbo.
I meant the oil life gauge on the AP2 that tells you when its time to replace the oil.

Again this is an AP2 with a maintenance minder light.
Its not the oil volume light.
Sure I drive it until it displays Oil life @ 10-15% and then I do an oil change (its right at around 3000 miles.)
I switched to synthetic to get an additional 2000-3000 miles between oil changes.
After thinking this through, I just dont think its realistic that the computer and sensors can chemically evaluate oil breakdown.
I think Its b/c I changed my driving habits thanks to the high gas prices.
