Default Prosport water temp gauge - long time to heat up

I have a Prosport Peak/hold water temp gauge. It seems to read accurately, however it takes a LONG time for the gauge to start reading above the bottom value. Approx 10 minutes of driving from cold.

The stock Honda gauge (in the cluster) has usually warmed to normal op temp level by the time the Prosport one is even reading 110.

After it has initially warmed, the next time I drive the car (even after a couple hours of sitting) the Prosport gauge quickly moves up to the correct temp reading.

I've connected the Prosport gauge directly into to the upper rad hose. (so the stock one is left as is)

Ideas? Anyone else have this problem?

Again thanks in advance.

Coolant doesn't flow through the radiator(and therefore through the upper radiator hose) until the thermostat starts to open at around 70C. Your dash gauge is probably reading from either the head or the thermostat housing so it'll show warm before your aftermarket gauge. My Greddy gauge usually starts moving after a driving for a minute or two, and my dash will read "normal" after about 5min of driving, at which point my Greddy gauge will read about 40-50C and start sweeping up. The Greddy gauge will take another minute or two to hit 70-80C. My normal driving temp is around 80-90C, and my fan kicks on at 100C.

THANK YOU! I knew there was a logical answer, and that is it!
