1991 Honda Prelude Si is stuck in park.
All of my brake lights work. When I press in the brae pedal that works. I still can't get it out of park. Can someone please tell me what I should be looking to check next?
I think there is a switch the can tell if the brake pedal is being pressed. Look for that switch and make sure it is working.
I think the brake switch is behind the brake pedal.
There's also some sort of lock mechanism under the shifter that should click when that brake switch is pressed.
I'm not sure on the 3rd gen, but there may be a key slot in the shifter that allows you to insert the keys and manually shift out of park with the car off. If there is, and you can do that, then you know it's the brake switch and not the shift lock.
