Ok so my homegurl has a 95 accord auto. she says theres something wrong with her car so i go test drive it around the block.

Sometimes during acceleration it felt like the transmission would "slip" for a split second and then catch. Its nothing TOO drastic but it worried me. it seemed to happen more frequently in the lower gears.

1) Should we just flush it and put new fluid in?
2) Whats the difference between Tranny fluid and Oil, would we need both?
3) is the problem common, does anyone here have a remedy?

Thanks. O yeah, she's only had the car a while, and she doesnt know when the last time the tranny oil/fluid was changed. Sorry about the newb ?'s, im learning as I go.....

 

I would take the car to a Meineke or a transmission shop and ask the fluid to be changed. It should be as simple as draining the fluid and filling it back up (Honda doesn't recommend a full flush). Ask for genuine Honda fluid. If you want to get into doing more repairs, go on Amazon or another site that sells used books - I picked up a Haynes manual for Accords for about 6 bucks, and it's been well worth it.

HEy im having the same problems except like 10 times worst did you have any luck with changing out the tranny fluid cause I was thinking of dropping the pan and changing out the filter and all. Also Do you know how many quarts it holds. And also what the model number is?

Sounds like your tranny is going out, but you can try to change out the fluid and see. There is no pan to take off and the filter is somewhere inside the tranny from my understanding and is not replaceable.

To refill the transmission after draining, I think it was 2.5 quarts, but I could be wrong. Good luck.

 

hey yeah i've had that problem once now its happening again the first time it was happening my tranny slip got so bad it crack the block so i got a used f22 and amaco rebuilt my tranny and now it's happening again don't know what the problem is ???

 

my 94 used to do that when going around corners...chaning the fluid solved that issue

 

Honda recommends against a full flush? I've done that twice. Nothing bad has happened, but am I causing any damage?
