Default she looks good for her age....

-i was down in denver with friends and this guy shows up.....

-actual miles. he found it in denver at an estate sale, $1000. last service was 1988, got the 80's shoei helmet too. in box, never used. the bike rides really good, he put new tyres on it as the others were dry rotted. i rode it around, did a wheelie....i thought the forks were going to drop out, but overall it was pretty fun. i have never really ridden anything "old".

-what do you think of the possiblity of it being a "collectable"? he said that there was also a vance and hines yamaha for sale as well, in perfect condition with 500 miles. any idea if these 80's era bikes will gain any value?

The VH Yamaha is a body kitted bike... probably yellow and pink/fuchsia. not my cup of tea, but over time that bike will retain some value over a stock Yamaha of the same vintage, basically for the body work only. Terry Vance & Byron Hines were the factory USA team during that period so there is some legitimate racing heritage there... in additional to terry's and Byron's foray in drag racing. Don't look for the bike to set the world on fire in value, the VFR1000R will though... made for only two years after the F model was changed form a chain drive to the gear drive... that's a nice bike, I am jealous. Of special note outside of the gear driven cams is the quick change front end and an aluminum sub frame, if you were smart enough to buy one

Sweet! I'd pickup the VH Yamaha as well. For $500, you could just flip it to the vintage guys.

-it really runs well. what kind of price are we talking, did this guy stumble upon a gold mine? i may inquire about the yamaha. was it an FZR 1000 or 600? he has no idea, but yes it was purple and yellow.

600... There was no 1000cc class at that time. There still may have been a marketed 1k bike(I don't really remember for sure) but not raced unless it was for endurance. the trick yamaha from that era would have been the fzr750r or the ow01

I would have to say that the RR VFR might be worth about 5500 for now. That's not bad for a bike from 85-86... and it will only go up
