Default Hey guys, I'm....new to the C-REX world......how easy it is to get a D16Y8 in a 91 SI?

I recently blew the engine in my EX and now have the core which is being rebuilt for play. Now, the EX is just too damn heavy and of course the CRX's come with D series already so, How much of a pain is it going to be to just drop it in using the Stock tranny? (I just thought about searching so, I will go and do that if I don't come up with anything I will post this)......okay didn't really find anything.

Does the CRX wiring harness fit 92-95 ECU's? OBDI?

Ok Let's begin.

The 96+ D16Y8 is a fairly easy swap, and you'll be surprised at how hard it pulls in a CRX.

It is a bolt in, and you use your 89+ CRX tranny, and you can use either the Y8 flywheel and clutch pressure plate and disc, or the 90-91 CRX Si one. (89's have smaller clutches I found out the hard way). The only thing you'll have to do is switch the driver's side engine mount bracket for your old D16A6 one, and you'll have to grind about 1/8th off the side facing the timing belt, so that it doesn't rub. Use a 92-95 MANUAL p28 ECU (make sure it's not an auto), and you'll need to buy/build a converter harness to go from OBD-O to OBD-I. You also modify your stock CRX harness to run OBD-I. More questions, email me at Knight_6969@hotmail.com. BTW, you'll LOVE the wiring

I can make the conversion harness you need to take you from obd0 to obd1. Then all you'll need is to modify your existing engine harness and you'll be done.

$100 shipped.

I love wiring.....this is my evening time/weekend time project. Therefore, I am game to spend hours upon hours with the Modifications needed.

Did I fail to mention that this is a "to be" sleeved/bored/stroked D16Y8? Can you say 2.0

N-E-Way, the horsepower to weight ratio of the 6th Gen EX is disgusting so, getting a CRX for "commuting"

I didn't know the CRX's were OBD-O.......shrug.

Anything pre 1992 is non-obd.
