rattle noise through 1800-3000 rpms 2nd gear and above???

i can ty to get a video of it but, for now any suggestions what it could be its a 1989 honda civic hatchback dx d15b2 245,000 miles oil seal was broke by penzoil a couple months ago and seems like it has got louder. "they put 3 quarts to much oil in it". its been burning oil like crazy every since then, exhaust smokes above 3000 rpms. anyway thanks and i appreciate everyones opinion!!!

wow. yeah, my first intuition was the heat shields around the exhaust system can rust and rattle like all hell.. so you may check that out.. but it sounds like your car might have more issues than that.
