Default a Big THANK YOU!.... to the Instructors !

I just wanted to say Thank You to all the instructors who were out there at Expo sweating their asses off.......

The realization just came to me while I was in the shower this morning, how dangerous an instructors job is..... and how they put their life on the line when they get into a car with someone they dont know(their driving ability), esp. a novice....

Knowing at some point they will be doing 100+ mph and then relying on someone w/ little or no track experience to get the car settled down safely to go through the next turn....

That takes huge *****, and my hats off to those that have them, and are willing to pass their track/driving knowledge on to others......

So one again Thank You!

esp. to my Instructor Karl

I'll make sure some folks see this. Thank you for taking the time to comment about it.

Four students on a 100+ degree day is really tough.

Definitely a big thanks to Corey and to Owen. Corey got caught up with other students on the track at the same time as me, and Owen stepped up and hopped in with me even though I'm sure he already had enough students of his own. Learned a lot from both, and I can't wait for next year.

I will make a post explaining the situation later, but....

I am in complete agreement with regards to thanking instructors. I went around trying to thank each instructor personally on Tuesday afternoon.

Keep an eye for a post from me about it all later today or tomorrow.

<-- organizer working with the instructors at the grid, red shirt, black mclaren hat. Wow...the south is hot area compared to Chicago.

He is definitely the man to watch and the man to beat at VIR! :-)

It's too bad he's too smart to go racing.

Definitely a huge thank you to all the organizers/instructors!!! None of the past 3 days could've been possible with out them and they really helped make this one of the best expos yet in spite of the heat. We all owe you guys immensely.

I, too, would like to give my huge THANKS to all the instructors and organizers! Big thanks to Erik for trying to help out in instructing. And also Big THanks to Corey for climbing in and helping me out. I think I took home more than I did last year.

I now know exactly what the term "smooth" or "be more smooth" actually means. I may not have exactly shown anyone smooth". But the one lap near the end of Day 1, when you started feeling sick and had someone jump in with me, I had a near perfect lap. Everything seemed just perfect. Then going back into Turn 1, I went off. But I now understand that at Turn 1, there is no throttle needed, period. For some reason I always thought I needed to keep the throttle on just a little. I also know what trail braking is along with KNOWING how to do it. Turn 4 ! I also loved the feedback once I got Turn 10 ! I wish I knew your screen name, Thanks again Corey!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was definitely very very HOT. I don't know how most of those guys did it.

Same thing happened to me. I didn't brake enough, plus I was on the throttle coming through turn 1 and I spun out, caught traction and shot across the track. I was hoping to get all 4 wheels off the track and slide through the grass, but I guess one of them stayed on the track and it held on. Almost ended my day on a very bad note.

This is defintely a worthy post.

My instruction this year was excellent, and I really regret the fact I was unable to drive Tuesday due to my migraine. Very knowledgable and an all around great individual.

Big thanks to Chris Thompson!

Yeah, I was thinking this too. Here's to the instructors

...and to the pit crew, standing in the sun all day directing cars out onto track

I'd like to add my thanks to AJ for a GREAT experience! As a young guy teaching a first time "old guy" he had a lot of patience and I learned a lot, even if at a slower pace than probably every other novice! I was so appreciative of his instruction, I ran my AC every session Hope to learn more from him some time. P.S. He was my son's (hondarcb) instructor as well. Night and day difference, I'm sure. THANKS AJ!!!!!!!!!

for making this thread. The instructors deserve more thanks than anyone else IMO, sponsors would be second.

Big thanks to Ahmet He was very direct with me (and a bit intimidating at first), but his focus on perfection left me with the motivation to give everything my absolute best efforts. It was also amazing watching how smooth he was with the M3 going against one of the GT3's there (a fun ride!).

I'm also part of the Turn 1 (err..2) off-club. He taught me some excellent techniques, that I look forward to practicing again there in the future.

Thanks as well, I had Kevin on day 1 and "Burnout Bbasso" on day 2. I learned alot from them both and it was nice to have instruction from 2 different people with diffent styles. The heat was tremendous and all of the instructors stepped up and hung in to make it a great event.

Hopefully with all the new people this year, it'll get people to sign up before the deadline next year. I know I won't hesitate this time around, I'll be paid well before the deadline, instead of the 31st.

Thanks to everyone.... Organizers, Grid *****, Corner Workers, Sponsors, Students, Guests, and VIR staff.

Students all did great. Relatively minor incidents for 2 full days on the track.

Especially considering the toll that the heat took on everyone. That shows responsibility on the drivers end to stay hydrated and know when to say when also.

I know personally i only saw a checkered flag twice. I didn't hesitate to come in when i felt like i was starting to stray from my line. Better safe than sorry.

Had an absolute blast this year, glad to meet some new people and great seeing the OGs and usual suspects as always.

Huge thanks to Marc Tran (BlueR) for letting me use his wheel/tire combo.

Another HUGE thanks to our instructors who had their work cut out for them and did an excellent job. Overall i think things went really well this year. Thanks for all who came out and showed their support. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year.

NO..... we don't know where it will be yet
