Default New to CRX's

I've had an '86 CRX HF for about two years as a commuter/work car. I now need to rebuild/replace the engine, and would like to keep the same type engine. I've been averaging over 50 mpg and travel 100 to 200 miles per day. I'm not looking to turn it into a streetfighter, just want to keep a good reliable high mpg worker.

The engine tag riveted to the car reads EW1. I'd like to replace engine and trans. with good stock ones. The trans., from a different model was replaced before I bought the car, and the motor really had to buzz to run 65 mph. (I just learned to run 50-55).

If anyone has what I'm looking for, please help me out.

Russ

hey neighbor! that old HF is a classic...if it's decent you should just rebuild the current motor. that's the easiest route. i'd imagine it will be really hard to find a replacement engine, unless you want to upgrade to a newer d15 or d16 with fuel injection. i'm not familiar with that kind of swap, but it's probably alot more work than you want to do

The down side to a rebuild is that you will be without your motor for a while. I know there are several large import scrap yards in your region - you should start by seeing if any of them have a motor you can just drop in. Although, I would do a T-belt and basic seals on the motor before you install it.
