4-1 header or 4-2-1 ?
correct me anyone if i am wrong but i have heard that the 4-1 header makes better top end power..but its lower under the car which makes them subject to bottoming out in bumps speed humps etc...but the 4-2-1 sits closer to the bottom of the car much like the stock manifold...
I know some people that can't run a 4-1 header cuz their car is slammed so much, they half to run 421..
In all honesty tegs are slow so putting on a 421 or 41 header wont make a big effect on the power gains... that's w/ aftermarket exhaust on of course.

in all honesty its an ls, wont make much of a difference. i would disregard what these people are telling you as most of them are just reitterating the rumors and hearsay from past posts.
both will most likely yield the same hp gains just in different areas of the powerband, 4-1 being higher in the rpm range but probably not super noticeable on an ls. just go for whatever is cheap that you can find.

Thats one of the best all around headers for the price. Its a little spendy but you get what you pay for.

i think you should worry less about the header and get a vtec tranny if you dont have one already. that should be you first and most important mod. pick your header according to future build plans and not "which header will give me 2 more hp for 500 rpm at 6800 rpm where im most likely not making power on my stock motor".

look up 4-1 vs 4-2-1 headers for dyno results and you'll see the results oh and this guy under of me got me with the vtech but its alright im not focused at the moment but before you talk look at what you type your self before talking you dont even have the right grammer...........that should be you first and most important mod.

In THEORY , 4-1 headers WILL make more power at higher RPMs with a sacrifice of midrange, compared to 4-2-1 headers that make more Midrange powers with a sacrifice at higher RPMs. 4-1 headers WILL also have peak torque occuring at higher RPMs when compared to a 4-2-1. Or so this is the theory we have all come to learn right? Keep in mind tho, this is in THEORY..... how much of a difference the header layout will actually display on a dyno is negligible on a stock car. As for a built car, I have not seen a comparison between the two headers, of the same company (to keep the variables at a minimum), to warrant a conclusion, so I'll keep my mouth shut on that.

i never said you were wrong and didnt mean to be an *** but there is too much unproven "facts" being tossed around here on h-t. this dude will never know for sure unless he can view dyno slips compairing the two. here is a good link supporting your claim.the fact that he is auto and not mt suggests he should get a try-y for more mid range since he wont be in that rpm range for long.

thanks for this site, it helped me a lot in deciding, also a key factor is installation as well, so its good to know the tri-y is in 2 pieces which would make it a hella lot easier to install

this was covered in a recent issue of Honda Tuning. I don't completely remember the motor that was used...i believe it was an itr motor. the 4-1 yielded higher max power and torque, but mostly in high RPMs. the tri-y made more low and midrange power/torque but failed to at least tie the 4-1 by 2-3 hp and i don't remember the torque figures.

He means a 2.5" outlet, where your exhaust hooks up.
But I'm personally going with a 4-1 header rather than a 4-2-1, because I've heard that 4-2-1 have a tendency to leak sometimes, because of the way they're designed. But then again, it is hearsay.
