AC TROubleshooting.
I just recharged my AC with r134a, it didn't get any cooler. So it is either the compressor, or a problem that my dad had with my mom's old prelude. (which i will explain)
1. Is there an easy way to check if the compressor is the problem??
2. Where would the compressor be located if there is a way to check??
3. The problem my mom's prelude had. When shifting the **** from hot to cold, sometimes in the engine bay the valve wouldn't open or close all the way. The hot and cold air pass through the same Valve(I think) what I think is happening is that my valve is half open/half closed. So instead of getting full heat or full cold im getting a mix and thats what it feels like, the air is cooler but still warm.
4. Where would that valve be?
5. I'm not sure if this helps diagnose the problem but my heat works amazing I don't know if its coming straight from the engine bay but on a cold day in PA. With in Minutes I have to turn my heat down b/c I will be sweating..
Thanks. TS

In order to see if your compressor is working properly, you need a manifold that will hook up to both the high and low side fittings of your AC system. From there you will be able to see the pressures on both sides of the compressor. If that is good, your problem may be contaminated refrigerant, condensor, or evaporator core, or as you already stated a ducting issue. My advice is, if the ducting or the controls itself is not the problem, leave it to the professionals with the proper tools to do it right.
My green light does go on and, I been doin some reading most duct problems occur in the expansion chamber/valve (supposdedly its under passenger glovebox)
I have no clue where it is or what it looks like.
