I found out the my stock OEM exhaust manifold is cracked.

I rather put headers on it, but I live in California and I have to smog my car in a couple of weeks

Are Megan Racing headers legal?

Oh well... the price was too good to be true.

Im having a hell of a time finding DC headers for my 96 EX accord around the Bay Area oddly enough.


Anyone want to point me to a place that has these at a good price?

 

Around here and craigslist is the best place to find the header,

 

why dont you just stick with OE ex headers, they work the same as some mid-range aftermarket headers.

 

Really the stock cast iron ones are pretty well tuned huh?

I was hoping that if i was going to drop some money..i might as well get a few more HP out of the deal.

I found OEM style Accord EX exhaust manifold from Kragen for $129.99...I might go that route since I have other things i need to deal with on this car that take priority

 

Get oe headers and polish the heat shield so it looks sweet.

 

if you going with OE, dont buy them new at first, look around and try to get a good one used in good condition. it'll be much cheaper than 130.

an also, you wont really gain any HP from after market header unless your spend an assload of money, i'm talking about $500+.

 

nah u can see gains with the header, and you don't have to spend 500.

why are the megan racing headers illegal in CA i have them in my 98 accord? just wondering ..thanks

 

Megan Headers are illegal in California because they do not have a CARB exempt #. Meaning they didnt go through the process of legalizing the part for use in California smog emissions cars.

DC and Greedy did. thats why both are 50 state legal.

 

not having to go through the expensive process of getting their product CARB exempt also allows them to sell it a lower price. and lets face it, if nobody was on a budget they probably wouldnt even take a second look at megan racing.

 

Have you ever thought about just buying megan or ebay headers, and putting a heatshield over it? When i had my DC header and a huge h22 heatshield over it, the smog guy didnt even notice i had a header till i pointed it out.
