b18c1 hesitation at part throttle
Ok so I just swapped out my b16 for a b18c1. The b16 ran fine it just wasnt enough. So I installed the b18c1 and now at part throttle it seems like power comes in and out, but at wot its fine and pulls hard. I figured the distributor was getting weak so I swapped it out and it did the same thing. I cleaned up the plugs and it still does the same thing. I had another set of plug wires and tried that and its still the same. So I searched and seen some posts that said check the tps and its .5v closed and 4.5v open and I also slowly plulled it and there are no spots where it doesnt climb steady. Any other things to try? My buddy suggested the injectors or new spark plugs but I wanted to see what everyone on here had to say. Any help would be great.
try cleaning the map sensor yet? oil and dirt gets into the diaphram of the sensor through time. easy and cheap to do. worth a shot. my b18c1 hesitated like that until I cleaned the map sensor with brake or carb cleaner.
I checked my timing with a timing light and to make it right the dizzy isnt centered its almost fully advanced. Is that right? I checked the timing marks on the gears and the crank they all look good. Since I have set the timing it hasnt hesitated except for first thing in the morning. Ill try to clean the map anyway since it cant hurt. Thanks for the advice.

If you checked timing with a timing light where is the timing at? It should be between 14 and 18 degrees.

Holy crap, you're off big time. Timing gun should be reading 16 if it's at the middle line. The line all by itself should be the 0 mark. That's why your dizzy is all the way advanced, the dizzy should be near the middle when it's at 16 degrees btdc.
I was going from memory I guess I was bass ackwards. Good to know. Ill change it and I also contacted phearable and i'm running a b16 chip and he said its different so that might have something to do with my problem.

There's your major problem. B16 doesn't have secondary butterflies like a GSR IM. Along with having different cams and basemap.
