Default something leaking out onto the axle and tranny:NOT TRANNY OR ENGINE OIL

jsut got a b16 swap with cable tranny and something is splashing all over the axles....

does the differential take a gear oil in cable b16 tranny's? because the stuff leaking out onto the axles does not look like grease, almost like gear oil, but the tranny takes motor oil and is different looking than this stuff thats leaking....what is it?????

did u put motor oil in the tranny? If you didnt know what kind of fluids were in the tranny before then someone might have put gear lube in it instead of motor oil.

And dont know if they are different but I put gear lube in my gsr tranny. dont just the autos take motor oil? mite want to search that one.

make sure the boots on your axles are not ripped at all. they have grease inside..

99% sure that autos take tranny fluid and manuals take regular old 10/30

Automatics take automatic transmission fluid. Manuals can take 10w30, but that is recommended only for temporary use. The sychros like Honda MTF or any other lighweight gear oil much better than engine oil.

OP, is the grease leaking from the axle boots? If the band clamp is loose, they can leak even though the boot is not ripped.

my tranny is a cable type tranny so it takes motor oil, hydro take gear oil as do automatics...so i changed my tranny fluid to royal purple and the stuff that came out is still the same colour so i assume its comming from the boot somwhere but i dont see a rip...hmm

i checked the clamp it seems ok i think, its gotta be a little rip or something....how long until i get major damage?
