Belt Squeaks
This past weekend I replaced the power steering and alternator, ac belts on my 02 civic lx. The next day I drove it, it sounded like a belt was squeaking between shifts in the higher rpms (4-5000 rpms). Some times it will squeak when i press the pedal from a dead stop. At first I thought it was the power steering belt since it wasn't that tight and i could push it down alot. Now it does it more since I tightened it. Did I maybe tighten it to much and its making the belt squeak or is it the alternator, ac belt being to tight? Thanks.
THEY SHOULD BE GOOD IF THEIR TIGHT. YOU DON'T WANT THEM TOO TIGHT. THEY NEED A LIITLE PLAY AND BY THAT I MEAN YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO PUSH ON THEM AND SEE THEM FLEX A BIT. BUT BEING TOO LOOSE OR NOT ALIGNED CORRECTLY WOULD MAKE THEM SQUEEK. SO I SUGGEST JUST MAKING SURE BOTH BELTS ARE ALIGNED RIGHT AND THE BELTS ARE PRETTY TIGHT. ALSO MAKE SURE THEIR HONDA BELTS CAUSE OTHER BRANDS JUST DON'T CUT IT.

not sure about that. I mean, they aren't complicated parts or anything. I don't see how Honda OEM belts could make that much of a difference.
I was driving an older land cruiser around for a while, and when we replaced the fan belt, it squealed at first, but went away after a while. I guess just because it was a newer belt.
How long has it been doing that?

It's been squeaking since this past friday. I was thinking maybe it was because it was new as well. Yesterday when i was driving home (After it had rained) it didn't squeak at all. So when i got home i sprayed some WD-40 on it.
Just took it down the road and i took the rpms up to bout 5500 and let out and it didnt squeak. Hopefully she's doesnt squeak anymore. It was probaly because the belt was new. Anyways thanks everyone.
