just wondering what engine this is. I know its kinda riced out but I need a new motor for my hatch.

It's red, therefore it's a Type-R.

that looks like an APC motor!

 

It's from a KLX street trail bike (250cc i believe). Electric start, no reverse. 5 speed, one down, four up. Good deal if you get the mounts w/ it. J/K

heres the link. I know it looks tacky but hey, you can always undo somebodys handy work on an engine. I dont plan on leaving it like that if I buy it. I just need to know if it is a d16z6. I know it doesnt have VTEC on the valve cover but some of them dont.

I'm not sure exactly what it is, but you better not pay $350 or anywhere remotely close to that for a single cam longblock.

yeah it looks like an early model d16z they had black valve covers. the spark plug wires are on the front of the valve cover and if you look real close you can see the vtec solenoid and its green conector in the picture on the right in the auction.

but who would pay 350 for a longblock sohc vtec? i've seen whole swaps for like $500-700.

 

btw, I would probably only bid up to 150 bux.

 

yep looks like a d16z6 out of an SI.

300$ isnt a bad price. but i wouldnt go much over that.

look again and you'll see the spark plugs face the rear on non-vtec and face the front (radiator) for the vtecs...

it has 127 hp

It's actually 125hp. It's from the 92-95 Civic. The 96+ SOHC VTEC is/was 127hp. I think it's a bit higher compression, the combustion chamber is a little different design.

 

could be a VX motor, that would expain why it's listed as 1.5 liter, and why it has a vtec solenoid.

 

but its sitting in the dirt amongst the rocks....

d16s rock tho. build up that sohc and go lookin for b16s

 

I'm agreeing with it being a 92 VX. I say 92 cause I'm yet to see a 93-95 Civic VX/EX/Si without it saying VTEC on the valve cover. I wouldn't pay more than $200 shipped. Then slap a D16Z6 head on it. If you wonder why, serach..."mini me conversion".
