Default bringing a SSBP GSR back to life... a children's story.

hey kids! this is my 6th honda, and i took a bit of a step down from my previous car in order to buy a house for myself and my fiance. i come from a fairly long line of hondas for having just turned 23...

96 civic ex coupe
95 integra LS-SE
93 del sol si LS-T
91 si hatch - d16z6
03 3.2 CL-S 6MT
and now, my 98 SSBP GSR. this thread will be updated shortly with more and better pics. stay tuned.

bought the car at the beginning of may, knowing that it needed a decent amount of work. don't have many pics of it.

exterior:

-front bumper, front lip [not pictured] and one side mirror [not pictured] needed paint.
-had APR carbon fiber side mirrors with cracking clearcoat
-both headlights were in terrible shape, holes drilled in them, car came with one 'new' one
-weather strip on hood was coming off due to lack of clips
-moisture in tail lights

interior:

-cloth front seats, no rear seats
-missing various plastic pieces including both kick panels, ash tray, cig lighter, fuse box cover, filler piece under e-brake...
-radio is probably one of the worst rig-jobs ive ever seen... wrong size pocket, random screws coming UP through said pocket, head unit speakers were wired backwards, and some little wedge-shaped piece of plastic was shoved into the console to make the radio stay.
-missing floor mats
-missing seat belt buckles in rear
-missing plastic between tail lights
-hacksaw'd oem shifter

engine:

-intake bracket was digging into brake line
-EVERYTHING from the header back was welded together
-flex pipe on header rusted and leaking
-hole in the es oval muffler where hanger used to be, bungee cord holding muffler on
-CEL for secondary o2 sensor

---------------------------------

i think that's the most of it. i was kind of pissed off that the seller left out a number of things that were wrong/missing/not explained properly, and that he flat out stopped talking to me once i left his house, but oh well. it was dark and i was tired by the time i got up there to get it. my fault for not being more thorough... luckily this is FAR from my first time around the proverbial 'honda block', and i used to work at an acura dealer.

i wish i would have taken pictures to document all this, but i was too busy working on making it a presentable car to care at the time.

ANYWAY!

so. i got the bumper/lip/mirror painted and installed them, along with 2 new headlights, 4300k HIDs and front plate plugs. [sorry for the crappy blackberry pics! professional ones to come!]

also, the parts were painted off the car, so the matching is bad. being fixed this week. she's also dirty.

and another shot to show how bad the paint match is. haha.

next, i ordered all the necessary parts from acura (using my ex-employee discount ) including 2001 GSR black floor mats and installed just about everything except im still waiting on some backordered hardware. looks so much nicer with kick panels and floor mats.

no pics of front interior yet.

then, i installed the black leather front AND REAR seats i was going to have acura put new seat belt buckles in for free, but i decided against it after i installed the TDM x-bar and a c-pillar bar. [benen B-pillar bar is in the mail!]

next up was the terrible exhaust. pipe straight welded onto the header, and then everything else welded all the way back.. no flanges, no gaskets, nothing.

so, in order to do this correctly, i had to replace everything from the header back. got myself a JDM ITR header, omnipower test pipe, and used the USDM ITR cat-back that the seller gave me with the car. now she looks gorgeous, sounds amazing, and makes more power than before.

moved the intake bracket so it wasn't digging into the brake line anymore, fixed the CEL.

i've got a whole new suspension waiting to go in, but the coilovers are backordered...

yonaka full coilovers
ASR 24mm rear sway bar
ASR rear subframe brace
skunk2 rear LCAs

only things left are to install my head unit [and do it correctly!]
replace the shifter [i put my RSX 5spd optional **** on]
and install those suspension items mentioned above.

thoughts?
