Default New A/T Trans. Installed...having issues

So the original A/T in my car stopped working 2 weeks ago. The car wont move in Drive...and all symptoms match Honda Tech. Service Bulletin 04-036.

So I Purchased an A/T from a semi-local wrecking company out of an '02 with 82K miles on it for $600 (Not enough time or $ to do the 5 speed swap)

Next I took it to a fabrication company to fix the side-mount threaded bolt holes due to the fact that they were'nt completely intact. $40 later and back to perfect.

ISSUE:
Had the A/T professionally installed and what happens is when put in DRIVE the car starts in 3RD. Shift into 2 and you get 2nd gear (obviously). Once the car is moving and put it in DRIVE you get 4th and overdrive. Reverse is reverse and Park is park.

DIAGNOSIS:
I suspect that this is being caused by a bad shifter solenoid. The simple solution to me would be to take the Shift Sol. off my old transmission (that was shifting perfectly when the torque converter went bad) and slap it on the new transmission...

any input? anything else I can try? Thanks in advance guys

also have been pondering the adjustment of the shift linkage, located under the A/T Shifter in the center console, due to the fact that placing the vehicle in DRIVE starts its movement in 3RD GEAR.

according to AllDataPro (yes...access to this tool is lovely haha) the reason my transmission isnt funtioning properly is either a malfunction with the A/T Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid, or the Shift Solenoid....

although the local Honda dealer is trying to tell me that I may find a fix with a solenoid but "theres definately something wrong with the transmission itself." ---I find that hard to believe...

Good to hear!

I still haven't installed new solenoids but I did manage to get the Shifter Solenoid and the Clutch Pressure Regulator Solenoid (known to be in working condition) off my original transmission and I'll be installing them shortly.

hoping this solves the issue

Just hooked up my shop's OBDII reader and got P code "P1758" ...which is a fault with the...oh...whats that?...the Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid!!

gonna go home and put it in and see what we get. Wish me luck!

well slapped on the Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid from my original transmission....vs. the solenoid that came on my replacement trans. and I get the same symptoms:

Check Engine Light, flashing D indicator and a trans. that start movement in 3rd gear in D3 and D

maybe I need to try switching out the Shifter solenoid from my orig. transmission?
