change engine
Very straight forward, but a little complicated for the amateur. Basically, you go through and unclip the harness, pull tranny, then pull the motor. Unless you have mad dog access to hoist and all the conveniences that a shop offers. Then you can drop the engine and tranny together.

Yes, Best investment i've made was a engine hoist.. I bought one from harbour freight for 96 bucks..

dont listen to this guy^^^ he is just going around making pointless posts to raise his count.
swapping the old motor out, and putting a new one in isnt really that hard since you are using the same motor (same engine code not literally the same motor)
unclip the harness, disconnect the rad hoses and the heater core hoses, throttle cable, fuel line, exhaust, mounts and pull it out. good luck

No that wasn't a legit post
I would consider it pretty damn rude..
Everyone has to start sometime.. How would you feel making a post asking someone a question and someone basically calling you a dumbass.. You know like when you asked if you could put front brakes on the rear..
To the original poster:
I would suggest you picking up a helms manual for your specific model vehicle it will help alot.. On step by step and illustrations.. If you are slightly mechanically inclined or knowledgeable you will be able to do it no problem.

thats not what i meant at all. i just meant it is a bit complicated and he should read up a bit on it. in retrospect it does seem rude though. and the front to rear breaks was just me being curious, i dont think anyones ever covered that.

Mind telling us what's wrong with the engine first? Also, how much are you getting the long block for? If it's over a grand or so, and the engine you already have isn't that messed up, then you might as well just rebuild it with some quality parts.

wait, so the head and block ITSELF is messed up?
If the block itself is still fine, I say you should resleeve it and get forged rods and pistons. Beef up that block so it'll never happen again.
