Cars idling funny after putting on throttle body spacer
hey peeps, i have a 97 5spd accord with the f22b2 engine in there. i recently put on an obx throttle body spacer, and now my car idles at 1100 rpms as opposed to idling under 1000. also, i've noticed the rpms climb between shifting gears. What is the problem?? i cant seem to figure it out, im bout ready to ditch this damn throttle body spacer!!!!
Did you use the supplied bracket to extend the throttle cable another inch to make up for the spacer?
im no expert but i have installed one on my car...
only problem i had installing mine was getting the original gaskets off. had to soak them and scrap them (gently) off the throttle body. hope you did that same otherwise there could be a vacuum leak. other than that i have it on my car and i do notice a higher rev in between gears as the car warms up (automatic) but once the car has been driven for a minute or two its fine.
just make sure that the gaskets are on properly and that the bolts are tight enough.
and make sure that the throttle body closes all the way with the extender.
other than that... best of luck

yea i used to the bracket that was supplied with the kit, it's really starting to bother me, i thought maybe i would have to play with the throttle cable, but thats not working....is it harmful to my car? if so, i'll ditch it with the quickness!!! thanks for the replies!!!
I've only dealt with TBSs on drive by wire Hondas so I'm sure there's some differences (no cable spacer, etc) but do check and make sure you don't have any sort of leak. You don't have a mass air flow sensor so having a vacuum leak isn't usually as big a deal but will cause you problems. This seems to be the #1 installation problem I see. Otherwise did you reset the ECU and allow it to relearn its idle settings? Again, I may be shooting in the dark but I figured I'd throw in my experiences.
I think i will try to reset the ecu, that's one thing i havent done yet.... i'll also see if everything is tighten down , just to make sure, but if none of this works, the TBS will be for sell on EBAY!!! lol
