Simple question. do you get better gas milege with the top up or down?
the car is more aerodynamic with top up. less drag=more mpg's. But i dont think ti really metter too much uless your doing highway driving or something thats more over 50mph.
I am a new S2000 owner. I noticed gas mileage is better when i "stretch out my gears". shifting at 4k instead of 3k. as far as top down/up, i am positive you will save more gas with top up
Our engines have a higher effiency range. You lugging a bit if your shift low. I think honda said effiency is best above 3200 rpm (dont quote me on that, but thats what I'm remembering)

No, but if I come into a thread...90% of the time its because someone said someting absolutly retarded...that's why we are in so many threads together LOL.
Seriously, the OP's question was retarded...no offense OP, but common sense should have told you that aerodynamics, and wind resistance would have been a factor.
Anyway, quit supporting the pussification of H-T.

I've noticed better mileage since I installed a test pipe. From 24mpg to 27mpg.
I've also been filling my tank half-way in hopes of saving weight and gas. The difference isn't much, but I haven't changed my driving style and my top is always down.

</TD></TR></TABLE> There's a lot of variables to that question. Are you going downhill or uphill, are you coming up to a red light, are your tires inflated properly, are you hauling excessive weight.... on on and on. I don't even look at where the revs are, I listen and feel for the best time to shift. Which is redline of course.

generally, yes.
short explanation, especially in the s2k, you shift too early, you're shifting before the useable torque really means anything. So you're essentially luggin the motor, or overworking it. It's dumping fuel in and trying it's hardest to gulp in the same amount of air, but it just can't.
I can feel a noticeable difference in the car if I shift between 3500-4000 vs. shifting before 3krpm.
My buddy with an 03 AP1 loves to shift before 3k, thinking he's getting awesome mileage. I think he maxes out around 22mpg, if that, but he's luggin the motor so much I think he's screwed his motor mounts.

top up does save a little more gas..but we all like it when she's topless

i agree..i used to shift at 3000-3300..and i didnt like the fact that i was being passed up by the ice cream truck..so i bumped up my shift point to around 4-5 and it didnt seem like i was burning up any more fuel than i was at 3000-3300..so i continue shifting her at 4500ish
