I have a 95 civic coupe thats gutted, my question is what is the cushioned part underneath the pedals, the same material is on both driver and passenger side, is that stuff there for a reason or can i take it out, the reason im asking is i took out all the sound deadening but i can see the sound deadening go underneath this cushion and i want to get the inside painted. anyone that knows what im talking about please help. thanks

why was it put there? do you know whats underneath it? just metal?

 

its an insulator for the firewall. you could just fold it up if your not pullin the dash out. but if you do pull the dash then you will see the tabs holding it in place. good luck
