Do I need to install aftermarket cams as well to notice a difference?

Default FV-QR

Valves and springs on their own aren't going to do .... anything really. They're parts you replace with stronger guts so your burly aftermarket ramped up cam doesn't shred your valve train, float a valve, and get it hit by a piston.

Yes, you need something that has a different lift and duration to feel any effects.

eran is correct, but you will be able to rev higher with the different valvetrain, but only if the car is tuned for it.

Would I also need a reprogrammed ECU to run higher revs?

It seems like the fuel cut-off comes in way too soon because the B16A2 engine is producing so much power right before the fuel gets cut off.

I know it is past the peak horsepower, yet it feels like the horsepower wouldn't drop off too much if you were able to rev it more.

Is it possible to reprogram that with one of those AEM engine management systems, or do I need a different system?

you need an after market cam, you'll need someone who knows crome or hondata, and has access to a wideband o2 sensor. they can do what you want no problem.
